This is the third post in an ongoing series spotlighting physicians in restorative reproductive medicine.

For over 25 years, Dr. Phil Boyle, the dedicated founder of NeoFertility, has committed himself to helping couples achieve the dream of natural pregnancy. From his clinic in Dublin, Ireland, Dr. Boyle’s holistic, patient-centered approach has facilitated the births of thousands of babies, providing hope to countless families facing infertility.

A Foundation in Holistic Medicine

Dr. Boyle’s journey began at University College Galway, Ireland, where he earned his medical degree in 1992. He holds memberships with both the Irish College of General Practitioners (MICGP) and the UK's Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP). Early in his career, while practicing general medicine, Dr. Boyle recognized a clear patient demand for ethical and effective alternatives to fertility treatments such as IVF.

This demand sparked his interest in Restorative Reproductive Medicine (RRM), a holistic approach that identifies and treats underlying fertility issues rather than bypassing natural processes.

Bringing Restorative Reproductive Medicine to Europe

Inspired by Dr. Thomas Hilgers' pioneering Creighton Model FertilityCare System and NaProTechnology in the United States, Dr. Boyle became one of Europe's earliest adopters of these restorative methods. In 1998, he introduced NaProTechnology to Ireland, effectively pioneering a transformative shift in fertility care throughout Europe.

For two decades, Dr. Boyle successfully utilized Creighton Model charting and NaPro protocols, addressing underlying fertility issues like hormonal imbalances, luteal phase defects, and gynecological disorders. His approach often helped couples conceive naturally, even after unsuccessful IVF attempts.

Innovating Fertility Care with NeoFertility

Building upon his extensive NaProTechnology experience, Dr. Boyle developed the NeoFertility method in 2016. NeoFertility expands traditional Creighton Model charting by incorporating basal body temperature (BBT) and urinary hormone monitoring, providing a detailed, personalized fertility profile for each patient.

Dr. Boyle also co-founded the ChartNeo app, in collaboration with A.J. Freda and Melissa Buchan. This innovative tool enables real-time digital tracking of fertility biomarkers, medications, and symptoms, promoting active patient-doctor collaboration and more personalized treatment plans.

Comprehensive and Personalized Treatment

Dr. Boyle's clinic treats a wide spectrum of fertility issues, including "unexplained infertility," recurrent miscarriage, PCOS, endometriosis, diminished ovarian reserve, and male-factor infertility. Rather than immediately turning to IVF, he performs thorough evaluations to uncover and address root causes such as hormonal, metabolic, autoimmune, or anatomical issues.

His treatments include optimized ovulation induction, targeted surgical corrections for conditions like endometriosis, and tailored support for luteal phase deficiencies. He also pioneers innovative therapies like low-dose naltrexone (LDN), an immunomodulatory treatment, and hormonal supplements like DHEA, significantly enhancing pregnancy success rates.

Research & Publications

Dr. Boyle has extensively contributed to the scientific literature, reinforcing his clinical impact with peer-reviewed evidence. Notable publications include:

Leadership and Influence in Global RRM

Dr. Boyle’s influence extends beyond his Dublin clinic. As the current President of the International Institute for Restorative Reproductive Medicine (IIRRM), he leads global efforts to advance RRM through education, clinical practice, and research. Under his guidance, the IIRRM supports practitioners from over 50 countries, advancing RRM’s international visibility and legitimacy.

At NeoFertility Clinic Dublin, he has created one of the world's most successful restorative fertility centers, drawing patients internationally who seek ethical, holistic, and effective care.

Educating Future Practitioners

Dr. Boyle is deeply committed to mentorship and education, actively involved with organizations like FACTS (Fertility Appreciation Collaborative to Teach the Science). He frequently presents at conferences, including as a keynote speaker at the FACTS international women's health conference in 2023, and regularly hosts educational webinars.

Currently, Dr. Boyle is developing a mentorship program aimed at training younger physicians in the NeoFertility method, including the use of the ChartNeo app. His passion ensures the continued growth and availability of restorative fertility care globally.
