This is the second post in an ongoing series spotlighting physicians in restorative reproductive medicine.
For millions of women battling endometriosis, Dr. Patrick P. Yeung Jr., MD, FMIGS, offers hope through restorative surgery and fertility care.
Based in St. Louis, Missouri, this renowned gynecologic surgeon specializes in minimally invasive techniques—particularly the optimal excision of endometriosis (LAPEX) using CO₂ laser methods—to alleviate pelvic pain and infertility.
With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Yeung has performed thousands of specialized surgeries aimed at removing endometriosis completely while preserving or restoring fertility.
His approach emphasizes complete removal of endometriosis in a single “one-and-done” procedure, paired with careful adhesion prevention to minimize scar tissue and protect organ function and fertility. He strongly believes that wellness and fertility go hand in hand.
Education and Training
Dr. Yeung earned his Doctor of Medicine from Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada. He completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., after an earlier residency in Family Medicine at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis, giving him a strong foundation in primary care.
He further honed his skills with a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at the University of Louisville and a mini-fellowship in CO₂ laser excision of endometriosis at the Center for Endometriosis Care in Atlanta. Board certified in OB/GYN and a Certified FertilityCare Medical Consultant, Dr. Yeung blends surgical precision with fertility expertise.
Clinical Expertise and Specialization
Dr. Yeung dedicates his practice to treating endometriosis and related conditions. Using advanced laparoscopic excision (LAPEX), he precisely removes lesions to address chronic pain and infertility at their source.
At the RESTORE Center for Endometriosis, which he founded in 2021, he’s achieved remarkable outcomes across over 4,000 procedures—including low recurrence rates and high natural conception rates.
Research and Contributions
Beyond the operating room, Dr. Yeung advances endometriosis care through cutting-edge research. He’s authored over 50 peer-reviewed papers, focusing on outcomes of excision surgery and adhesion prevention.
His studies landmark studies include a series in teenagers after optimal excision showing the potential for complete eradication of the disease even in these young women, the benefit of a particular GoreTexA® membrane in patients with infertility and an endometrioma for adhesion prevention and its benefit on pregnancy, and most recently, the culmination of a10-year database showing a very low rate of repeat and the possibility of one-and-done surgery.
He regularly shares his insights at global conferences, driving improvements in gynecologic surgery.
Academic and Clinical Appointments
Dr. Yeung has held key roles, including founding and directing the Duke Center for Endometriosis Research and Treatment, and founding and directing the SLUCare Center for Endometriosis at Saint Louis University, where he trained over 120 residents.
In 2024, he launched the RESTORE Center for Endometriosis, a practice focused and dedicated to providing best outcomes for patients from root cause treatment, by removing the disease and optimizing the anatomy. He remains an Adjunct Professor at SLU, and has hospital privileges at St. Luke’s Hospital and Mercy Hospital South.
Leadership and Professional Affiliations
In addition to his clinical and research efforts, Dr. Yeung shapes the field through leadership and education. He chaired the AAGL’s Reproductive Surgery & Endometriosis Special Interest Group and is active in organizations like the World Endometriosis Research Foundation, and American Academy of FertilityCare® Professionals, and the International Institute for Restorative Reproductive Medicine.
As an Adjunct Professor at SLU and as a high volume experienced surgeon, he continues to train surgeons and advocate for women’s restorative reproductive health worldwide.
